Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Review
I have recently ditched my natural hair and bleached it within an inch of it's life, returning again and again to the salon chair to get that little bit blonder each time. It goes without saying that my hair has been feeling a little rough and dry since, so I have been using the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Shampoo and Conditioner* for the past couple of months in an attempt to bring back a litte moisture and shine.
And bring back the moisture it certainly did. I have an oily skintype, which also means that I have been blessed with oily hair (oh joy!). I try to leave washing it as long as possible, as we all know this helps with hair health, and I tend to wash it every three to four days. However, with the Invisibe Oil range I'm having to wash it every two days instead. Whilst it leaves my hair soft and locks in the moisture, it also means it gets oily a lot faster... not a side-effect I'm loving. The upside of it being packed with oils, however, is that it's a lot easier to brush through after washing. This bird's nest really does turn into just that (I can stick a brush in, let go, and it'll remain in my hair!) and is the bane of my haircare life. Using shampoos that promise volume and clarity usually makes matters even worse, but the Invisible Oil duo leaves my hair a lot more manageable and only takes a few minutes to comb through (as oppose to the 10 minutes it use to... seriously, guys, it's a struggle). Steering away from the 'volumising' shampoos made me slightly hesitant to switch to something that was fixed with oils and had no promise of body, but actually the fluffiness and buoyancy my hair has after using it means it's not being weighed down and is not as flat and sorry-looking as I had thought. In fact, it reminds me of the fluffiness of hair from the 50s.
This shampoo and conditioner are also sulphate free, meaning they won't damage your hair further so is ideal for those of us who colour or highlight our hair. I would especially recommend if you've newly bleached your locks and are in need of a moisture boost without the added chemicals.
Would I recommend it?
If you have dry or damaged hair, without a doubt. It really does soften the hair and I love the immediate effect. However, if you have oily hair like mine, I'd probably skip this one. The results are great in the first day, but washing it every other day has become quite a chore. I've now stashed it away to use for first wash after bleaching and I'll probably whip it out again in winter when my hair needs a little more moisture.
