At Home Workout Motivation with Eco-Friendly Activewear

Lockdown has me feeling a little (or a lot) less motivated to move my body. Between working from home, working out from home and trying to find a regular living routine whilst spending much more time indoors since the beginning of 2020, moving my body has had to become way more intentional and a little less organic. So I’ve had to become more creative with how I approach body movement, workouts and physical wellness.

Something I noticed a few months in to the first lockdown was that I was tending to stay in my pyjamas all day… after all, I wasn’t going anywhere or seeing anyone! But this only served to make me feel more lethargic and less likely to get up and move. It didn’t take long for me to commit to getting dressed every morning regardless of what I was doing that day. And what I soon realised was that when I dressed in workout appropriate clothes I found myself spontaneously moving my body a whole lot more! On the flip-side, when I wear clothes I need to change out of to get on my mat or go for a walk, I tend to skip movement altogether that day. So I decided to wear more clothes that inspired me to move my body and fewer outfits that kept me restricted and enabled excuses to get out of movement.

Having a few Asquith pieces in my wardrobe I already knew they felt good to wear whilst I worked out and whilst I worked from my computer, did my grocery run, watched an entire season on Netflix and caught-up with friends on Zoom. As they so perfectly put it, their sustainable yogawear is great from ‘lunging to lounging’. I’ve been wearing their Flow With It bamboo pilates leggings that come in a size-inclusive range from XS to XXL, have a supportive and flattering wide and high waistband and are made from bamboo and organic cotton so are naturally breathable, sweat-wicking and super soft. Asquith’s entire line of ethical activewear is made from bamboo, organic cotton and Bambor (their own trademarked materials made from cotton, bamboo and elasthane for extra stretch) with a mission to help create environmentally friendly and responsible pieces. One of the reasons I keep coming back to Asquith’s collections is their commitment to keep evolving as conscious and slow fashion producers;

‘As in any production, our fabric has some environmental impact, but we’re always looking at ways to keep this to a minimum. We’re constantly striving for greater transparency throughout our entire supply chain.’

As part of this commitment to growth and sustainability, Asquith are researching new materials to introduce to their clothing line to continue to offer conscious collections and eco-aware pieces. Asquith aren’t making promises they’re not keeping to and have outlined their mission and detailed their fabric and design choices on their website here. Their transparency and truly eco mindset is refreshing to see and something I feel proud to support and be reminded of each time I wear one of their deliciously soft and comfy pieces. I’m quite literally wearing my values on my sleeve!

And now that I have incredibly soft, stylish and sustainable pieces to wear my daily dose of movement is easy and enjoyable (who does’t love a bit of alliteration?).
