Nailed It

I love a good pop of colour on the nails, particularly because everything else from my wardrobe to my makeup is pretty minimal, but recently I've been preferring the nude nail over anything else. I try a bit of colour but it usually comes off within a day or two because I just like the look of clean, natural nails. Saying that, it's not completely natural as I like to go for a more polished look with a pinky nude varnish and to add strength and shine with a topcoat.

Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails is great to use if your nails are prone to breaking or chipping. I use this as a base coat so that the nail polish on top has a smooth layer to evenly stick to.

For a bit more of an elegant look I opt for a pinky nude. Today I used the Bourjois So Laque! in Rose Lounge. The white of the nails is never a perfectly straight edge so this also helps to blur it out a little and give the effect of a cleaner line.

To seal everything in place I use the Nailene Acrylic Strong Protecting Topcoat. It's by far the best top coat I've come across and allows me to have a good week without having to worry about chipping or peeling.

What's your favourite nail colour of the moment? Do you prefer to go bare, too?
