Autumn Awakening
I love Autumn. It means bringing out the chunky knits, layering with neutrals, and smacking on a rouge lip. Everyone looks their best at this time of year and my creativity gets reinspired.
Your favourite cardigan
Wheher it's a new perchase or a well-loved piece, a chunky cardigan can never be wrong. I love layering mine with contrasting silk shirts or going for comfort in a loose-fit tee and my favourite pair of jeans. Mine's from All Saints (discontinued, but here are some lovely ones: Zara, Asos, & Other Stories).
The wrap
I use to hate scarves; the feeling of something around my neck is not comforting and only left me feeling claustrophobic (the same went for school ties!), but now I can't live without my big soft scarf wrap. It's large enough not to feel like it's choking me and keeps me toasty even when I'm not totally covered elsewhere. (Mine's from Zara years ago, but here's my favourite from the 2014 collection: Zara).
Chunky shoes
Delicate, strappy shoes should be left to the warmer months and in thier place should shine the chunky, industrial shoes and boots. I opt for more tailored pieces when pairing with larger shoes to keep from looking like a total potato sack... try skinny jeans and a fluffy jumper for casual days or peg-legs and cotton shirt for work-appropriate outfits. I gravitate towards my suede booties (which are from California years ago, similar here: Kurt Geiger and Office), my Birkenstocks, or my New Balance 373s.
What're your three must-haves for Autumn / Winter?
