5 Steps to Creating a Vision Board

We’re coming to the end of the year… and the decade! A lot of us spend this time reflecting on the year gone and looking to the future of the year to come. We’re on the brink of a new beginning and this is the perfect time to reflect on the past 365 days, set meaningful intentions for the next year and think about what we’d like to manifest in our lives in 2020.

Of course I’m talking about vision boards. This is something I’ve been creating over the years, not only during new years but to ground myself during any big change; house moves, birthdays, break-ups… any fresh start feels like a good opportunity to re-centre.

Here are the 5 steps to creating a vision board:

– REFLECT

This is a great chance to reflect, meditate on your past year (or home or relationship) and find the pieces that kept you feeling alive, joyful. passionate, growing. Also remember what had you feeling not so great. It’s important to know what turns your fire on and what extinguishes it so you can cultivate more of what you want.

– ASSESS

Creating a vision board is about focusing our energy and awareness on our intentions. Be still for a moment or two and sit with your reflections, elevate your awareness and re-focus on your goals for the new beginning.

– VISUALISE

Visualising your new beginning not only feels great (get those endorphins going) but also creates a positive image you can come back to. Having an image in mind acts as a gentle reminder and also helps us keep on track. Seeing something visually helps them feel tangible and gives us obtainable goals to aim for.

– RELEASE

Once we’ve moved through this movement meditation, breathe and allow it to manifest. Keeping your vision board, whether it’s physical or digital, somewhere you’re going to see it every day for a yummy reminder of your path is going to help keep you inspired and focused.

– GROW

Allow yourself to check in for a few moments every day and change out images or words as they evolve. There is no final product here, it’s a fluid and evolving piece that grows with the creator. Update your vision board as your goals are achieved and as they move and expand.
