How I Chose The NOMADIC Life + Sustainable Budget Travel Tip

Phew... what a WILD month it's been. 5 weeks ago I moved out of my apartment in📍Brighton, sold and donated most of my belongings, packed up my life and started my full-time travelling nomad journey. The beginning of 2022 was a really difficult time for me and by February I had reached an all-time low. My skin, eyes and throat were sore from the mould poisoning in the flat, I was in conflict with the awful landlord who lived next door, I was still unable to work due to the construction going on in his adjoining apartment, I was unable to fully process and heal from my step-father's sudden death and the ongoing rippling effects that has had on my family, I was having daily panic attacks, and was finding it difficult to get out of bed each day let alone take care of myself properly. I was completely depleted.

It was from this rock bottom that I was able to finally look upwards. Crumpled there on the floor I gazed up at the single beam of ✨light✨ casting it's warmth on my face and saw - finally - that there was a way out of this hole. And I began making my path of escape.

It was time to move on from Brighton, time to let go of the things I had collected over the years, time to free myself from the weight of belongings and the tether of rental contracts, bills, subscriptions... it was time to say goodbye to the life I had been living for 3.5 years and jump into a new, freer existence.

Perhaps it sounds radical to some people, but for me it was the clear way forward. It's always been a dream of mine to live minimally and feel weightless in the world and to travel and experience new cultures, foods, festivities, languages, traditions and lifestyles. And what better time than now? Now that the world is slowly but surely opening up once again, now that we've hit a housing crisis and bills are steadily increasing throughout the UK, now that I'm free from contractual obligations, and now that... well, now that I'm tired of waiting to start living my dreams. I'm ready to start a new adventure and I'm so excited to bring you along on the journey with me!

💫 Sustainable & Budget-Friendly Travel Tip 💫

This first month of travel has brought me to my home town,📍London. Having grown up here I can tell you the best way to see the city is by public transport. There are so many wonderful exhibitions, galleries, museums, historical sites, theaters, restaurants, parks, nature reserves, cafes, pubs, social hubs, music + art + cultural events... and so little time to see them all, especially if you're only in for a flying visit.

My tip: if you're visiting a city walk as much as you can so that you get to fully immerse yourself in the city life, stumble across hidden gems, and get to see wonderful parts of the city you'd otherwise miss. If you're unable to walk, are heading to the other side of the city, or just fancy a more laid-back afternoon, rent a city bike, hail down a bus or jump on the overground for views of the city on your journey and a feel for what it's like to live as a Londoner. Walking, cycling and using public transport is also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and save quite a bit on travel fares 💸 👟 🚲 🚌
