Giving Eyeliner Staying Power
If you're part of the oily lidded clan and making eyeliner stay all day seems an unachievable task, you're in for a treat because I've (finally!) discovered the trick of the century. It's easy, cheap (you probably have all you need already) and quick. Too good to be true? I dare you to try it and tell me it's not magic.
Firstly, you'll need to make sure your eyelids are cleansed. This means when you're washing your face, don't forget to close your eyes and gently sweep your cleaner over your lids, too (this should only be done with a light, milky product. Avoid cleansers with alcohol, acids or perfumes for this step).
Once you've got a clean slate, thinly apply an eyelid primer (I use ELF's Mineral Eyeshadow Primer - check out my review in my drugstore staples post). You don't want to overdo it, too much product will mean it won't adhere to your skin as well. Let it sit for a minute or two to get nicely tacky.
Apply your eyeliner as you would. I like the felt pen type as I find them easiest to apply and the longest wearing.
Once this has dried completely, dab on some translucent powder (I use Rimmel's Stay Matt Powder in Translucent) with a small brush on top of the liner, through the crease and all over the eyelid from the base to under the brow bone. This will mean all surfaces are dry and matt so no chance of transferring the liner. If you have oiler lids, after a moment or two go over again with a little more powder.
Et Voilà!
