'The Blogger Made Me Buy It' | Tag
I follow a fair few blogs, but there are two who stand out:
is down-to-earth and doesn't take things too seriously, making it easy to trust her judgements. Makeup is silly and so is she, which makes her blog fun and easy to read. She opts for less dramatic makeup and mixes in a lot of drugstore products so the things she raves about are often affordable and always good.
has a good mix of high-end and affordable products. If there's something she raves about that is outside of your budget, she's bound to balance it out with something she's picked up from Boots. The most important thing is that she loves these products equally so you know there's no skimping on quality for the sake of price.
(If you're over on either Essie or Anna's page, please let them know I've recommended them!)

2. Do you buy a product soley as a result from one review from your favourite bloggers or do you look for more reviews from others?
It's never a good idea to purchase something because of one person's opinion. There are so many factors contributing to why someone likes a product. What may work for one person may not work for another based on skin type, colouring or just personal style. I always do my research before purchasing a product. There are so many good things out there, it's important to stick with the ones that are going to work for you.
3. What is your favourite item bought as a consequence of blogs?
My Clarasonic Mia 2. I've always been an exfoliating madman, but between products being too harsh or not harsh enough, I never found the balance. I had lusted after the Clarasonic for a couple of years after seeing the influx of great reviews, but thought it too high a price for a face brush. Eventually I gave in and bought it. I use it every day and it is the perfect daily exfoliant and great at removing excess makeup.
4. What is your least favourite item bought as a consequence of blogs?
The John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full shampoo and conditioner. These products leave my hair flat and lifeless and my hair feels greasy and dirty after one day. I will not be repurchasing.
5. Name the five products recently bought as a result of blogs.
- MUJI Log Fire candle I loved this candle as soon as I smelled it burning in my home after it had been given as a gift, so not soley because of the blogger's references to the Diptyque Feu de Bois candle, but that definitely reminded me to pick another one up!
- REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask This one has made a huge hit in the beauty world, and so when I saw it in the Christmas sales I had to pick it up. And I'm glad I did.
- La Roache-Posay Effaclar Duo This baby has been my morning moisturiser for the past couple of months and I love it. Definitely one to live up to the hype.
- Urban Decay NAKED Palette This one may come as a shock to some of you, but I didn't rush out to buy this until late 2013. That's right. There has already been a NAKED 2, NAKED 3 and NAKED Basics since the original NAKED and I'm only just coming around. Bad beauty blogger *slaps wrist*.
- Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick in Non-Stop Red This is a great, long-wearing lipstick. It claims to stay on your lips for 14 hrs. I'm not sure if this is true, but it definitely has one of the best staying powers I've tried. This is one heck of a red, too... it's bright and bold with blue undertones so it's got that classic 50's twist.
6. Have you ever given into blogger hype? If so, which hype?
Never straight away. Like I said, I always do my research first to try to make sure I'm not disappointed. But there are, of course, things you just don't know until you try. I gave into the Clarasonic hype and, eventually, the NAKED palette hype.

7. Have you ever avoided blogger hype? If so, which hype?
I seem to have avoided NARS hype quite well, especially the bronzer / blushers and liquid foundations. I feel that there are so many terrific products coming into the drugstore nowadays that higher brands are beginning losing their draw. The wonderful world of bloggers has also meant more dupes are coming into the open which helps stave off the cravings.

8. Is every beauty item you buy based on blogger reviews or are there items you buy without checking reviews?
I know my skin and I make a point of researching ingredients so I have a pretty good idea if something is going to work for me or not. I mostly buy products that I've researched myself because what works for others may not work for me, but if there is something with a particularly good review and seems to hit all the points I look for, I may give it a try. It's also a good idea to check reviews on your phone if you're in a store and are thinking about buying a product but want to know what kind of experiences others have had with it.
