30 Day Minimalism Challenge

I love the minimalism movement that's sweeping social media at the moment. I listen to podcasts on it, watch videos about it, read books describing it – I'm a girl obsessed. But just knowing about minimalism isn't the same thing as implementing it. This can manifest it's self in many way throughout your daily life from creating a capsule wardrobe and organising your fridge to devoting more time to your family and friends, hobbies, or alone time. Minimalism is about getting rid of the things in your life that don't really matter in order to free up time and space to do the things that do.

This can all seem quite daunting at first, especially if you are fresh to this concept. So, to ease myself and you guys into it a little more, I've come up with a minimalist challenge. There are plenty of these out there, probably the best known one being The Minimalist Game created by Josh and Ryan from The Minimalists. The concept of the game is to ease yourself into ridding your space and life of things that you frankly don't need, each day getting rid of an increasing number of objects. Unfortunately this can be daunting for those who are tentative or, like me, have recently had a massive clear out and don't feel like there are actually enough items to get rid of in 30 days. So for those of us looking at this game and thinking "AHHHH!", let's begin with a challenge a little less... challenging.

So my challenge is pretty simple: remove (throw away, donate, sell, recycle) one item from your life every day.

The main difference between The Minimalist's game and my challenge is that the number of items doesn't increase each day. This should allow it to still be challenging but not seemingly impossible come mid-month. Hopefully this will help you feel a little less daunted and keep you on track for the full 30 days.

Let me know how you're doing and make sure you encourage and support each other in the comment section!
